Sustainable Zero-Party and Zero-Shared Data
At its heart, DataSapien is a Zero-Party Data collection and Zero-Shared Data processing platform.
- Zero-Party Data is data that customers voluntarily provide to a brand, distinguishing it from other data types by its direct and consensual nature.
- Zero-Shared Data is another step forward, by processing data locally on-device, sensitive personal data need not be shared at all, whilst the resulting, sanitised, insights may be shared with brands, with explicit consent.
The term Zero-Shared Data has been coined by DataSapien to describe this new concept in data management.
Zero-Party Data (ZPD)
With DataSapien, the individual collects their own data on the ’edge’, that is on his or her own device(s). This gives them complete control of data, literally held in the individual's own hands. Not only is this architecture far more secure and privacy preserving for the individual and organisation, it also enhances the experience (reduces latency) and ensures continuity of service no matter the state of the internet connection.
In contrast to traditional third and second-party data, the gathering and sharing of Zero-Party data is explicitly and voluntarily consented at source, in a transparent exchange of data for mutual benefit.
Until now, Zero-Party Data has been limited to ‘self-declared’ answers to questions, surveys and polls. Zero-Shared Data addresses the limitations of Zero-Party Data by shifting the data processing paradigm. Instead of brands collecting and storing personal data, ZSD empowers their customers to gather, store, and process data privately on their devices. In addition, with the addition of on-device intelligence, they gain real-time, hyper-personal insights in real-time. With the addition of on-edge personal intelligence, customers can choose to command their app to do this for them, on their behalf.
Three level on-device intelligence is facilitated by the DataSapien SDK, which embeds into existing brand apps to provide their customers with the necessary tools to easily leverage their data independently to get their jobs done with the brand.
